ANDERSON RELISHES CHANCE AT NEW LIFE.(Main)

Terry Anderson said Friday that he bore no hatred toward his kidnappers and that while at first he would have "given them an H-bomb" for his freedom, he now believes the United States was right not to negotiate for his release. In an emotional news conference at a U.S. military base here, Anderson gave a vivid account of his nearly seven years in captivity in Lebanon.

"These weren't wasted years," Anderson said, appearing remarkably fit and in good spirits. "They weren't empty. I learned from them. I lived through them, too."

Anderson is undergoing medical tests and debriefings with U.S. officials at the Wiesbaden military hospital and spending time relaxing with his family, including a 6-year-old daughter born three months after he was taken hostage. …
