Qld: Libs reject leadership speculation
BRISBANE, Dec 7 AAP - Queensland Liberal Party deputy leader Mark McArdle says there
are no moves afoot to depose leader Bruce Flegg.
Party sources have speculated Liberal MPs are planning to dump Dr Flegg over the summer
parliamentary break.
Dr Flegg replaced former leader Bob Quinn a week before the start of the state election
campaign and was heavily criticised by some sections of the party for his inept campaigning.
Mr McArdle said Dr Flegg had the support of all seven of his parliamentary colleagues.
"Categorically there is no movement to replace Dr Flegg," Mr McArdle said.
"He has the full support of the parliamentary party.
"Bruce will retain the leadership as long as he wishes to do so - it is a nonsense
to suggest anything to the contrary."
