Fed: Odyssey House says Howard misses point on mental health

Odyssey House has accused politicians of missing the point .. by seeking a tougher
line on marijuana as part of a mental health reform package.

Chief executive DAVID CROSBIE says he's frustrated because he's got funding to treat
people for alcohol or drug-related problems .. but the service can't get funding for a
mental health nurse.

He says most clients with major drug problems also have major mental health problems
.. and they're dealing with homelessness and unemployment.

But he says when counsellors try to work holistically .. they're told they're not funded
for that.
